We all want to be BLESSED. And Jesus gave us insight into what it takes to be BLESSED. He said in Acts 20:35 “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” In this #BLESSED sermon series, Pastor Matt dives into what it means to live a life of generosity, break free from a scarcity mindset, and discover what it means to be BLESSED in the Kingdom of God.

The Heart of Generosity

#blessed

Acts 20:35 (ESV) It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Matthew 6:21 (ESV) For where your treasure is there your heart will be also.

2 Corinthians 8:1-5 (AMP) We want to tell you further, brethren, about the grace (the favor and spiritual blessing) of God which has been evident in the churches of Macedonia [arousing in them the desire to give alms]; 2 For in the midst of an ordeal of severe tribulation, their abundance of joy and their depth of poverty [together] have overflowed in wealth of lavish generosity on their part. 3 For, as I can bear witness, [they gave] according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability; and [they did it] voluntarily, 4 Begging us most insistently for the favor and the fellowship of contributing in this ministration for [the relief and support of] the saints [in Jerusalem]. 5 Nor [was this gift of theirs merely the contribution] that we expected, but first they gave themselves to the Lord and to us [as His agents] by the will of [entirely disregarding their personal interests, they gave as much as they possibly could, having put themselves at our disposal to be directed by the will of God]

The Heart of Generosity

1. Deal with a selfish heart

Ezekiel 36:26-27 (NLT) I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you.

2. Develop a grateful heart

Deuteronomy 15:14-15 (ESV) As the Lord your God has blessed you, you shall give to him. 15 You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you.

Luke 7:47 (ESV) her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.”

Proverbs 11:24-25 (NLT) Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. 25 The generous will prosper.
