church on purpose - ministry
February 28, 2021 | Matt Ware
Following the PURPOSE series, CHURCH ON PURPOSE looks towards the bigger picture of the Church and what it mean to truly engage in church through worship, community, serving, sharing faith, and more – whether that’s in-person or online. It’s time to do CHURCH ON PURPOSE.
Ministry
Ephesians 5:25-27 (ESV) Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.
Ministry
Ephesians 4:11-12 (NKJV) He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry.
Ephesians 2:10 (ESV) For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
John 4:34 (NKJV) My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.
1. Activate gifts
Romans 12:4-6 (ESV) For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them.
1 Peter 4:10 (NIV) Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
2. Accelerate growth
Matthew 25:14-16 (NIV) it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. 15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16 The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more.
2 Timothy 1:6 (ESV) fan into flame the gift of God
3. Achieve greatness
Mark 10:43 (ESV) whoever would be great among you must be your servant.
Mark 10:45 (ESV) For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve.
