the comeback - rejoice
May 03, 2020 | Matt Ware
Everybody loves a good comeback story, and one of the greatest of all time is David at Ziklag. In one day, he lost it all—his family, his home and his possessions. It was the greatest setback he had ever experienced. But by applying David’s response to our own situation, we can see how to turn the setback into THE COMEBACK!
Step 3: Rejoice
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
1 Samuel 30:6b (KJV) David encouraged himself in the Lord.
Philippians 4:4 (ESV) Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.
Psalm 34:1-4 (ESV) I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. 3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together! 4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.
1. Praise changes your MIND
2. Praise changes your MOMENT
Acts 16:25 (ESV) About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God …
Acts 16:25-26 (ESV) About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, 26 and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened.
3. Praise changes your MOMENTUM
2 Chronicles 20:21-22 (ESV) he appointed those who were to sing to the Lord and praise him in holy attire, as they went before the army, and say, “Give thanks to the Lord, for his steadfast love endures forever.” 22 And when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set an ambush against the men … who had come against Judah, so that they were routed.
Nehemiah 8:10 (ESV) the joy of the Lord is your strength
