Turning to Philip, he asked, “Philip, where can we buy bread to feed all these people?” He was testing Philip, for he already knew what he was going to do. Philip replied, “It would take a small fortune to feed them!” Then Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up. “There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. . . .” - John 6:5-9

Samuel was very upset with their request and went to the Lord for advice. “Do as they say,” the Lord replied, “for it is me they are rejecting, not you. They don’t want me to be their king any longer.” - 1 Samuel 8:6-7

Then Samuel took a flask of olive oil and poured it over Saul’s head. He kissed Saul on the cheek and said, “I am doing this because the Lord has appointed you to be the leader of his people Israel.” - 1 Samuel 10:1

Jesus replied, “Now is not the right time for me to go. But you can go anytime, and it will make no difference.” - John 7:6

Perhaps the Lord will help us, for nothing can hinder the Lord. He can win a battle whether he has many warriors or only a few! - 1 Samuel 14:6

But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Obedience is far better than sacrifice. Listening to him is much better than offering the fat of rams.” - 1 Samuel 15:22

“Don’t worry about a thing,” David told Saul. “I’ll go fight this Philistine!” - 1 Samuel 17:32

“But what has he done?” Jonathan demanded. “Why should he be put to death?” Then Saul hurled his spear at Jonathan, intending to kill him. So at last Jonathan realized that his father was really determined to kill David. - 1 Samuel 20:32-33
