Who is This Jesus? Our Hope

Hebrews 6:19 (NKJV) This hope we have as an anchor of the soul

Luke 24:13-17 (ESV) That very day two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, 14 and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened. 15 While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. 16 But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. 17 And he said to them, “What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?” And they stood still, looking sad.

Luke 24:21 (ESV) we had hoped …

Luke 24:30-31 (ESV) When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him

1. Hope for Our Stress 

Mark 14:36 (ESV) Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.

Philippians 4:6 (ESV) do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God

2. Hope for Our Sin

Romans 3:23 (ESV) all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Isaiah 53:6 (ESV) the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.

Hebrews 12:2 (ESV) for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Romans 8:11 (ESV) If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

Revelation 21:4-5 (ESV) He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” 5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”.

3. Hope for Our Sorrow

1 Peter 1:3 (ESV) According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ
