Following the PURPOSE series, CHURCH ON PURPOSE looks towards the bigger picture of the Church and what it mean to truly engage in church through worship, community, serving, sharing faith, and more – whether that’s in-person or online. It’s time to do CHURCH ON PURPOSE.

Legacy

Psalm 71:18 (NIV) Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.

Psalm 78:6-8 (NLT) For he issued his decree to Jacob; he gave his law to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children, 6 so the next generation might know them– even the children not yet born– that they in turn might teach their children. 7 So each generation can set its hope anew on God, remembering his glorious miracles and obeying his commands.

Acts 13:36 (NKJV) For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw corruption.

Hebrews 12:1 (NKJV) Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

1. Be an example

Deuteronomy 34:4 (NKJV) Then the LORD said to him, “This is the land of which I swore to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have caused you to see it with your eyes, but you shall not cross over there.

2. Prepare the way for them

I Chronicles 22:5-6, 14-17 (NKJV) Now David said,”Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it.” So David made abundant preparations before his death.” 6 Then he called for his son Solomon, and charged him to build a house for the LORD God of Israel. 14 Indeed I have taken much trouble to prepare for the house of the LORD one hundred thousand talents of gold and one million talents of silver, and bronze and iron beyond measure, for it is so abundant. I have prepared timber and stone also, and you may add to them. 15 Moreover there are workmen with you in abundance: woodsmen and stonecutters, and all types of skillful men for every kind of work. 16 Of gold and silver and bronze and iron there is no limit. Arise and begin working, and the LORD be with you.” 17 David also commanded all the leaders of Israel to help Solomon his son.

3. Give them what you have
